Two good pre-BCS Bowls on Wednesday

Dec. 29, 2009 / By Danny Sheridan

While there is always a lot of attention paid to the five Bowl Championship Series bowl games, there are some good games before New Year's Day.

On Wednesday, the Bowling Green Falcons and the Idaho Vandals go to battle in the Humanitarian Bowl (4:30 pm ET, ESPN).

The Falcons are 2-point favorites in College Bowl Odds at Bodog.

In their last game, the Falcons beat Toledo 38-24. Bowling Green covered the 7.5-point spread, while the 62 points fell under the posted total of 66.5.

And in their last game, the Vandals couldn't come all the way back in the fourth quarter as they lost 52-49 to Utah State. Utah State covered as a 3-point road underdog.

Both Bowling Green and Idaho were 7-5 SU and 7-5 ATS this season.

Later Wednesday, the No. 22 Nebraska Cornhuskers battle the 20th-ranked Arizona Wildcats in the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego on Wednesday (8 pm ET, ESPN).

College Football Betting lines at Sportsbook.com have the Cornhuskers as 1-point favorites.

This game is a rematch as the teams met in the 1998 Holiday Bowl, which the Cornhuskers won by a 23-20 margin, on Dec. 30, 1998.

In Nebraska's last game, kicker Alex Henery booted four field goals in a narrow 13-12 loss to the Texas Longhorns in the Big 12 Conference Championship on Dec. 5. Nebraska covered as 14-point underdogs and the score went under the total of 47.

Arizona beat Pac-10 rival USC Trojans 21-17 at Los Angeles Coliseum in Week 14. Arizona covered as a 7-point road underdog while the score went well under the 49.5-point total.

Nebraska is 9-4 SU and 8-5 ATS and Arizona is 8-4 SU and 6-5 ATS.
