The "Boys" are back

Nov. 12, 2009 / By Danny Sheridan

The "Boys" — I like to call 'em my boys — have been on a roll lately, and I don't see that stopping this weekend.

I'm talking about the Dallas Cowboys, of course, who have won four straight and take on the Green Bay Packers at that most-storied of football venues, Lambeau Field, on Sunday (4:15 pm ET, FOX).

The oddsmakers at Bodog have the Cowboys listed as 3-point favorites and the over/under total at 47½.

One reason I'm predicting a Dallas win is the fact these teams are heading in opposite directions. Dallas has rattled off four straight since its bye week, most against decent opponents. Green Bay, on the other hand, has lost two straight, including last Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who got their first win – in Week 9 of the season!

It's that last fact that jumps out at me. No team wants to be on the receiving end of a sad-sack squad's first victory, and I believe Green Bay will be demoralized by that defeat.

Of course, there's also the sports-betting fan's best friend — trends.

Dallas is 6-2 both straight up and against the spread over the past eight meetings, including a 27-16 win last season in Green Bay.

Last week, the Cowboys defeated Philadelphia 20-16 as a 3-point underdog in Week 9, while Packers lost to those lowly Bucs, getting beat 38-28 as a 9.5-point favorite.

Dallas is now an impressive 6-2 SU and 5-3 ATS while Green Bay has slipped to 4-4 SU and 4-4 ATS.

All of this points to a Dallas win on Sunday, possibly by double digits.
