NFL AND NCAA MATCHUPS

New Orleans Saints (8-4) at Dallas Cowboys (8-4)
Opening Line: Cowboys – 6.5
Sunday, 8:15 pm Eastern
NBC

The best matchup of the weekend is again on NBC Sunday night as the New Orleans Saints take on the Dallas Cowboys. These two division leaders each have 8-4 records and two-game leads in their divisions but to the betting public, the Cowboys at home are the only team to bet - reports SBG Global.

The Cowboys will try for a fifth straight victory on Sunday, which would match their longest win streak since 2003. Head coach Bill Parcells is making all the right moves for the Cowboys. Weeks ago it was going with Tony Romo at quarterback and last week it was cutting kicker Mike Vanderjagt who continually missed key field goals. The most recent decision paid off when Martin Gramatica kicked a 46-yard field goal with one second remaining to give Dallas a 23-20 win over the New York Giants.

Tony Romo is the NFL's top-rated passer at 102.4. He was 20-for-34 for 257 yards last week and his 42-yard pass to tight end Jason Witten keyed the final game winning drive against the Giants. Dallas is averaging 27.7 points per game, second only to San Diego.

The New Orleans Saints are No. 1 in the league in total offense with 400.2 yards per game and quarterback Drew Brees leads the NFL with 3,649 passing yards. He only threw for 186 yards and a touchdown last week but not much more was needed as it was the Reggie Bush show. Bush, who was named NFC offensive player of the week, scored four touchdowns and had 168 total yards last week against the 49ers. Bush, who has 73 receptions, needs 11 more to break the NFL rookie record by a running back set by San Francisco's Earl Cooper in 1980.

Dallas is a 7 point home favorite with a total of 48 at SBG Global.

New Orleans has won the last four meetings between these teams, including a 27-13 victory at Dallas on Dec. 12, 2004. The Saints had lost their previous nine games at Texas Stadium before the win. The Saints are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. the NFC and they are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as an underdog. The Saints are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Saints are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games in December. The Saints are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings. The Underdog is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings between the two teams.

The Cowboys are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games. The Cowboys are 0-4-2 ATS in their last 6 games in Week 14.

The Over is 8-2 in the Saints last 10 night games. The Over is 6-1-1 in the Cowboys last 8 vs. a team with a winning record. The Over is 4-1-2 in the Cowboys last 7 vs. NFC and the Over is 7-2-2 in the Cowboys last 11 night games. One Under note has the Under 23-11-1 in the Cowboys last 35 games in December.
