The New Orleans Saints looks to earn their first trip to
the Super Bowl as they take on the Chicago Bears in the NFC
championship game. The Saints became the first team in NFL
history to make a conference championship after losing 13
or more games the previous season. The Saints were picked
by most experts to finish at the bottom of their division
but led by Pro Bowl quarterback Drew Brees and rookie Reggie
Bush, the Saints have thrived this season. SBG
Global reports that the gambling public plans
to also thrive on the Saints success with most early betting
taking the points.
Brees threw for an NFL-best 4,418 yards, 26 touchdowns and
only had 11 interceptions. He finished third in the league
in quarterback rating and in touchdowns thrown. The Saints
will have to produce again this week as they travel to Chicago
to play in cold temperatures. The Bears are looking to return
to the Super Bowl for the first time since winning it in 1986.
Chicago survived against Seattle last week, winning in overtime
on Robbie Gould’s 49 yard field goal. Chicago has really
not played well lately and was fortunate last week. The Bears
did get a decent performance out of quarterback Rex Grossman
who went 21-of-38 for 282 yards. "We win one game and
we're in the Super Bowl." said Grossman.
Chicago
is a 2.5 point favorite with a total of 43 at SBG Global.
Temperatures actually won’t be too bad on Sunday as
mid-30’s are expected with a slight chance of snow.
The problem for the Bears has been that they have not been
great at home. Last week they finally won a playoff game at
home for the first time in over 15 years, but they still didn’t
cover the spread.
The Saints have won three of their last four visits to Chicago.
New Orleans and Chicago have met once in the playoffs, a 16-6
Bears victory on Jan. 6, 1991.
