Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings
Week 3, Sunday, 1:00 pm EST - FOX
The Chicago Bears look to open 3-0 for the first time since
1991, while Minnesota tries to start 3-0 for the first time
in three years when these two division rivals meet at the
Metrodome on Sunday. Quarterback Rex Grossman is playing surprisingly
well and leads the NFL with a 128.7 rating and is tied for
first with five touchdown passes and is fifth with 551 yards
passing. The Bears have scored an NFC-high 60 points.
Chicago is a 3 point favorite at SBG Global with a total
of 35.
‘‘(The fans) have been on him so hard the last
few weeks,'' said Bears tight end Desmond Clark. ''You sit
back and you're like, 'Damn, just a few months ago he was
(hailed) and now you're booing him.' I like what he's doing.
I hope he can keep it up.'' The defense is always good for
Chicago. They have given up only seven points and are fifth
in the NFL n total defense, allowing 256 yards a game. The
Vikings defense has allowed only two touchdowns and also looks
good.
Minnesota is coming off a 16-13 overtime win over Carolina
last weekend after opening the season with a 19-16 victory
at Washington. Minnesota quarterback Brad Johnson didn't throw
a touchdown in the game, but was 19-of-31 for 243 yards. The
Vikings are averaging only 3.4 rushing yards per carry, but
Chester Taylor did have 113 yards on 24 carries.
The home team has won each of the last eight meetings in
this series, with Chicago's last victory in Minneapolis coming
on Nov. 25, 2001. ''If we can get this one, it would really
set us up,'' Minnesota safety Darren Sharper said. ''We usually
play well against them.''
